There is a lot of hoopla around the number of integrations for Slack. Why are integrations so important, and how does Slack compare to Teams in this regard?

Without integrations, Slack would pretty much be a glorified chat app. That is fine; many companies use Slack simply as that: a chat app. However, users that truly benefit from what Slack has to offer take advantage of the 1,800+ apps that support the platform.

For example, the customer support team that works with Zendesk can share tickets with the engineering team that works with Github. Or the sales team that works with Salesforce can share information about a VIP customer with the other departments. Everybody, from customer support and engineering to sales, is in the loop—all in one channel, all in Slack. Any team can use Slack with almost any software. Imagine the possibilities in workplace collaboration.

App integrations transform Slack from a chat app to a collaboration hub. According to Okta, a leader single sign-on provider, large companies used an average of 163 apps in 2018. Slack allows all of those apps to come together in one place and streamline the business process. It truly changes the way people collaborate and work. Now, imagine a workplace without Slack.
